Buko Pandan

Buko Pandan originated from the province of Bohol, a very touristy area of the island country. It is a variant of an also dessert called Buko Salad. Buko Pandan is one of the most popular varieties of it.

Buko Pandan is a popular Filipino Dessert made using young coconut,  pandan leaves, and sago pearls. Pandan is plant commonly used as flavoring in Southeast Asian cuisines. Traditionally, this dish is prepared by boiling Pandan leaves in order to extract its flavor. Gelatin bars are cooked using the water used to boil the leaves. But some also uses buko pandan flavoring to make the process faster and easier. It can also be in a form of a refreshing drink with buko and pandan flavored gelatin. Every household and restaurant here in the Philippines have their own special recipe to make the dessert more similar to their taste.

Although prepared, made and served all throughout the year, it is more popular during summertime and is present on all festive tables. The pandan makes the dessert more unique to the foreigners since it may not be known flavoring to them. But since it is a sweet and welcoming dessert. I’m sure everyone would love to taste and try it.

AH! Buko Pandan, a classic! When I was first introduced to buko pandan, I got quite shocked at how it tasted. I’ve had any taste like it before. Don’t get me wrong, its a GOOD taste. The dessert makes you want it more because of its unique taste. So, you might want to slow down when you try buko pandan because I tell you this, you’ll ask for more.
